“It’s selfless that someone who has had so much success in one position or a couple of positions in the middle order is open and willing and hungry to have a crack at something new and something different,” Bailey added.
Green’s inclusion in the 13-man squad marks another exciting development. Alongside Scott Boland and Matthew Renshaw (as reserve batter), Green bolsters a team handpicked by the selectors as “the best six batters in the country.”

However, Bailey swiftly shot down such speculations, reiterating that the decision was purely based on cricketing merit, with no lingering issues affecting Bancroft’s standing within the team.
